Just my memories as I remember them. As life goes on we tend to forget. Life with my two sons was sometimes good - sometimes not so good - but - always memorable

Paid to Volunteer
The park where we lived had an Oktoberfest every year. Grandma Betty was in charge and Grandpa Andy always worked in the drink booth. Christopher was 10 and asked if he could help Grandpa in the booth. Grandpa said "Ok but you're going to have to pay me Two Reese's and a Hershey Bar." As a joke I bought the candy for Christopher to give to Grandpa. Of course everybody laughed. Grandpa made sure Christopher stayed on the soda side and didn't go on the beer side. More than halfway through the day the park manager went to Grandpa and told him Christopher couldn't be back there. Andy advised her he was not on the beer side, he was just giving out sodas. She said it didn't matter. Grandpa told her he was the only one that PAID to volunteer and has stayed there all day and he wasn't going to tell him to leave. After she inquired what he meant Grandpa told her about the candy bars. She laughed and said "Well then, I guess he can stay." They had a great time.
