It seems like everybody has special signals with their children. When Christopher was a toddler he would be playing and I would sneak up to him and say "I'm gonna get you, I'm gonna 'beat you up'." Christopher would laugh and run wanting me to chase him. Of course he knew that I meant I was going to tickle him.
Sometimes when he wanted to be tickled he would jump into my lap and say 'beat me up' mommy. As he got older and other people heard I would have to explain what it meant. That's when I told Chistopher "Maybe you should only ask me to 'beat you up' at home".
When I tried to trick Brendan this way he learned fast that tickling would make time have to pee. So when I told Brendan "I'm gonna beat you up" He seemed like he'd get upset and shout "No, its gonna make me pee in my pants". I tried and tried but he did not want to be tickled. Oh well.
