One night after work a few of us went for drinks by the beach. Of course only having a few I drove home. There was no surprise when I noticed there was something wrong with the car. I pulled off the freeway to look for a phone. I never saw anything look so dead. There was nothing and everything was pitch black. I locked my doors and when a car did come by I ducked down thinking what to do.
Another car came by and by the lights I could tell he stopped behind me. Shaking like a leaf I hear a knock on my window and a flashlight shining in the car. I roll down the window to find a policeman looking at me. He asked what the trouble was. All I could think of was to cry. So through my tears I tried to tell him how I got there.
He asked if I had someone to call. Sure, I could call me dad, he's about 20 mins away. So he took me to a phone and I called me dad. When we got back to the car he told me he didn't feel comfortable leaving me there alone and said I could drive around with him til my dad came. I did and we talked. Of course after a few drinks I had no problem talking (not that I ever do)!
Shortly after we got back to the car my dad arrived. He told me he would keep an eye on the car and if I gave him my phone number he would call me if something happened. I gave him my number and thanked him.
Monday morning I had the car towed to a mechanic. Yes, he called. Wanted to make sure it was me who had the car towed. We talked for a bit more and he said "well since your car is in the shop you will need a ride to work, I'll take you if you'd like" I agreed and gave time my address. Now he had to come 15 mins north to take me 30 mins south but he did - for a whole week. That's when our relationship began.
